New Board Chair and positions for 2022

A message from our previous Chairperson Sue on the newly elected board member positions:

“Tonight, we had our first board meeting since the AGM. Again thanks to you all for placing your trust in us as your board to continue the work of 897fm. We will endeavour to work hard and to the best of our ability to get things moving to make this station bigger, better and financially viable.

Tony is our Treasurer and Yvonne our Secretary, with Gary, Gordon and Grace General Board Members. I am thrilled to let you know your new Chair is Steve Willis, with myself as Deputy Chair. Steve is a mostly early retiree and has the time and also the experience within his previous roles to help take our station into a more financially sound organisation. I have had a few meetings now with Steve and I am excited by his knowledge and desire to make a difference. This is why I put forward the motion to the board to elect Steve as Chair. Again, as myself as Deputy Chair, I can share my history knowledge with Steve and continue to work on the agendas I had alongside Steve. Please welcome Steve Willis, your new Chair. I am looking forward to the next 12 months and working with our team.

Thanks all for your support for myself as Chair in the last 3 years. I am still as passionate about this station, our members and our community today as I was when I first walked through the doors 20 years ago.”
