89 7FM Perth The People The Music
We had an amazing year on 89.7fm.
Another CBAA Award Nomination (Contribution to Australian Music – Live & Local 897) which was Live & Local’s 2nd year in a row for a nod from Community Radio overseeing body, a fantastic achievement, congratulations to Grace Borrello and her team once again.
John Logan (formerly of ‘Movers & Shakers’) was elected in Joondalup Council in 2015, we congratulate him and wish him well in his new role for our friends at the City of Joondalup.
Ciaran Lyons (formerly of ‘Sitcomm’), was plucked from us and added to Triple J’s Overnight line-up, Ciaran is also a noted and popular stand-up comedian we also wish him well in his career upswing, we predict big things for Ciaran in 2016.
More shows were added to in 2015, some of the highlights from this fresh crop of programming on 897fm are The Institution (Fridays from 8pm) playing dark electronica, trap and more, Ital Galore (Tuesdays from 8pm) playing Reggae grooves and the Sunday Morning Hangover (Sundays from 11am) playing anything smooth and relaxing, are among the best new shows to grace us on-air this year.
Rob & Jay (Wednesdays from 6pm) and The Eclectic Boogaloo (Mondays from 10pm) made returns in 2015, we are glad to have them back on board. We have more new shows to come in early 2016. We are really excited about these too, stay tuned!
We should also mention the amazing outside broadcasts by Sue Myc, John Logan & Michael Stokes, The Caledonian Connections crew, Alan Griffiths & everyone involved in the Wanneroo Show 2015 Broadcast, regarded by many internally as our best Outside Broadcast ever!
We thank all of you for listening in 2015, and we hope you listen in 2016 as we strive for better shows, better local content and better music for you in the coming year. Thank you all for a banner year for 897fm.
